I have a confession. I’m not a “native” Confirmite. In fact, for the first 10 years of my career, Confirmit was “the competition”. I was Product Manager for the Bellview product set at Pulse Train, which merged with Confirmit in 2007. I’d joined as a part of the graduate recruitment scheme along with 2 other recent graduates….both of whom are also still part of Confirmit.
Pulse Train was a great place to work and, like Confirmit, one of the things that really made it great was the people. In fact, I can certainly claim to have got on well with my colleagues since I married one of them! I’m not sure if that means that Confirmit has some sort of claim over my children…
Becoming part of Confirmit was a little daunting to begin with. We knew the company well, having competed in the past, but the idea of working with the people and technologies that we’d been selling against was a distinctly odd concept. However, it very quickly became apparent that the fit between the 2 companies was incredibly good. Not only did the technologies complement each other- enabling us to build much of what is now Confirmit Horizons, but the people were a great fit too. There was the same obsession about getting things right, about doing the best for the customers, and a pragmatism about finding the most effective path to getting things done. All that and a slightly offbeat sense of humor which has helped keep us all together for a long time!
19 years is a long time to be part of the same company (albeit with a 10 year/9 year split) but it honestly doesn’t feel anything like that long. I think that’s because nothing stands still here at all. The technology, the customers, the market – everything is constantly evolving. And more importantly, there’s no danger of team members being passive bystanders of that evolution. Like everyone else, I’ve always been able to challenge the status quo and make decisions that allow us to adapt and keep moving forward – and we’ve been growing the entire time.
Of course, as Product Director, I can hardly write this without mentioning the technology. I love it. I know how that sounds, but there’s not really another way to describe it. I spend my days buried in Confirmit Horizons™ , and working to make sure we can continue to make our products do more for our customers. The worlds of Market Research and Voice of the Customer have changed so much, and I’m very proud of the fact that we don’t just react to change, we drive it through our solutions and our approaches. Our customer base is so much more diverse than the one I worked with back in 1997 when I was on Tech Support and I’d never have imagined the conversations I have on a daily basis now.
In short, I’ve never worked anywhere else, and yet I’ve never been bored for so much as a minute. I think that says a lot.
