In 2014, we achieved a record 100% uptime on all our web-based Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) environments. This means that both our European and US-based environments were ready and able to support our clients around the world without even a minute of unscheduled downtime every day of last year! It’s a tremendous achievement and stands as testament to the work that our Operations team – as well as our partners, Rackspace – puts into maintaining the highly advanced solutions that we deliver.
From my perspective, I want our customers to never have to think about whether their Confirmit environment is available – it should be like flicking a light switch - it just works. Of course, while customers can take our solutions for granted – we never do! We’ve exceeded our uptime guarantee of 99.7% for the last 10 years and have delivered above 99.99% over the past 5 years. We’re very aware of the precedent that sets, and the fact that very few SaaS-based providers can honestly make that claim.
I also wanted to take this opportunity to reflect on the role that SaaS takes in our business, and the opportunities that it delivers to our customers. While we still have many customers who choose to use our (excellent!) on-premise solutions, the growth of SaaS over recent years underlines the importance of having constant access to the most up-to-date solutions, without the need for the associated upgrades and hardware requirements. Now that our R&D and Product Management teams are rolling out continuous deployment – which means we’re releases new features on a very frequent, regular, basis – the role of SaaS is even more critical.
The teams here will continue to strive to maintain our outstanding record in this area so that our customers know that their Market Research, customer experience and employee engagement programs are in the safest of all hands, and they can get on with using our solutions to deliver the results that they need to drive their businesses onto bigger and better things in 2015!
