The US National Immunization Survey: Cutting-Edge Technology and Methodology Deliver one of the World’s Largest and Most Challenging Social Research Programmes

Download this presentation from the Confirmit Community Conference which took place in London on May 21-23, 2008.

Jenny Kelly, VP, NORC at the University of Chicago, gave a detailed overview of the National Immunization Survey (NIS). The control and prevention of infectious diseases is a major issue for most governments.  The NIS is designed to consistently monitor vaccine coverage and fluctuations in availability in the US.  A household RDD telephone survey is the current approach that can cost-effectively achieve both the high response rates and good coverage of the population required for this purpose.  However challenges to RDD surveys are increasing on several fronts.  This talk discussed the methodologies and technologies used to address these issues.
